Hello Reilly Community,
I am honored and humbled to be Reilly Elementary school's assistant principal. I am excited to work alongside each of you to continue to make Reilly a place where our students are challenged, inspired, celebrated, and loved. My goal is to ensure that all students have access to high-quality education and that they are provided with everything they need to accomplish their goals in life. I promise to lead with integrity, to love and care for our Reilly families, to collaborate with parents and teachers, and listen to all concerns. I promise to reach out to all community partners and motivate, celebrate, and support all educators to ensure students receive a high-quality education.
I have had the privilege of serving Chicago's students for the past fourteen years as a science and social studies teacher, curriculum and instructional coach, an English language program teacher, and an assistant principal. In 2006, I graduated from Northeastern Illinois University with a bachelor's degree in psychology. In 2010, I obtained my master's degree in teaching from Rockford University. After having worked as an educator for ten years, In 2016, I completed my second master's degree in educational leadership from Northeastern Illinois University.
I lived and attended my earlier school years on Chicago's west side. When I was in middle school my parents decided to sell their property in Chicago and move the entire family to Puerto Rico. The transition was quite challenging for me because I had to learn to become literate in the Spanish language and culture! So, therefore, I understand personally how it feels and the challenges that are faced when acclimating to a new culture. I had a fearless determination to rise above all obstacles. That same determination and passion for excellence are what drives my work and my vision of all students reaching their fullest potential despite the obstacles and barriers they may face.
Through my experiences and education, I have developed much of my educational philosophy, I strongly believe that all students can learn and what enhances that learning is the trust the child develops with positive adult relationships. I believe a school should provide a holistic approach to educating a child: academically, physically, socially-emotionally, and honoring the student's cultural and language background. A school that provides a safe and nurturing environment. All students can and deserve to learn.
I currently live on Chicago's northwest side with my loving husband, my charming son, and my two dogs! My husband is a digital marketing manager and together when time permits, we enjoy exploring Chicago and surrounding suburbs and states and aiming to live healthier lives. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions, issues, or concerns.
